ABOUT HERBAL TINCTURES
Herbal tinctures are concentrated liquid extracts made by steeping herbs roots, leaves, flowers or barks in alcohol over several weeks, drawing out their active plant compounds into a potent, easy to absorb form. Rooted in centuries of herbalist tradition, tinctures offer a gentle, natural way to support the body's own healing systems, taken simply by placing drops under the tongue or mixing into water or tea.

BENEFITS OF HERBAL TINCTURES
* Chronic stress, anxiety or sleep issues
* Digestive concerns like bloating, sluggish digestion or low appetite
* Hormonal balancing and support for menstrual cycles, fertility, perimenopause or menopause
* Immune support especially during seasonal changes or times of increased potential of illness
Because herbal tinctures are generally well tolerated and have little to no side effects, they are great for those with sensitive digestive systems who find capsules or large pills difficult to take.

LEARN MORE ABOUT
HERBAL TINCTURES
ARE HERBAL TINCTURES SAFE?
Generally yes. It is important that your herbal tinctures are sourced from a quality practitioner and taken as directed. Always make sure to disclose your full health history and current medications to your practitioner before starting a tincture.
CAN I TAKE A TINCTURE WITH OTHER MEDICATIONS?
Some herbs can interact with prescription medications, either amplifying or reducing their effects. Always talk with your practitioner about your current medications list before starting a new tincture.
CAN I TAKE MORE THAN ONE TINCTURE AT A TIME?
Oftentimes, yes. Depending on your health goals, your practitioner may recommend layering a couple of individual tinctures for different needs. It is always best to work with your practitioner to build a combination that is safe and effective for you specifically.

SOME HERBAL TINCTURES OFFERED AT HEART'S GATE WELLNESS CENTER
MIMOSA:
Known in Western herbalism simply as the "tree of happiness," mimosa bark is traditionally used to ease grief, sadness and emotional heaviness, while also supporting sleep and easing irritability. It is often used during major emotional transitions such as loss, heartbreak or seasonal low mood.
ST. JOHN'S WORT:
This is one of the most well researched herbs used for mild to moderate mood support. It is traditionally used for low mood, mild depression and nerve pain. It is important to note that St. John's Wort has interactions with many medications because it affects how the liver metabolizes drugs. It is important to disclose your medications list with your practitioner before taking this tincture.
ELDERBERRY:
A well loved immune supportive berry, rich in antioxidants and traditionally used at first sign of cold or flu symptoms to help shorten duration and ease severity. Very popular during cold and flu season as a preventative tincture as well.
LEMON BALM:
A gentle nervine in the mint family, traditionally lemon balm is used to ease anxiety, calm an overactive mind and support restful sleep. Lemon balm also has a long history of use for digestive upset tied to stress and mild anti-viral properties.
MILKY OAT:
A deeply nourishing nervine tonic for depleted, frazzled or burnt out nervous systems. This is a go to herbal tincture for chronic stress, adrenal fatigue or anyone that is running on empty.
PASSIONFLOWER:
A calming herb traditionally used for anxiety, racing thoughts and difficulty falling or staying asleep. Passionflower works well for the "mind won't shut off" type restlessness and is sometimes combined with other nervines such as lemon balm or chamomile.
MOTHERWORT:
True to its name, motherwort is traditionally used to calm heart palpitations tied to anxiety or stress and has a long history of supporting women through hormonal transitions such as PMS, perimenopause and postpartum emotional ups and downs.
CHAMOMILE:
A gentle, well known calming herb that soothes both the nervous system and the digestive system. Chamomile is a great option for stress related stomach upset, mild anxiety and easing into sleep.
ELDERBERRY SYRUP:
Crafted specifically for Heart's Gate Wellness, our elderberry syrup is a sweetened, more concentrated preparation of elderberry. Combined with honey and other immune supportive herbs and spices such as ginger. Elderberry syrup can be more palatable than a straight tincture, making it especially popular for kids as a daily preventative during cold and flu season.
LUNG TONIC:
Also crafted specifically for Heart's Gate Wellness, our lung tonic is a blended formula combining multiple herbs with other immune supportive spices such as ginger and honey to support respiratory health, ease coughs and strengthen lung function over time. A common go to for lingering coughs, seasonal respiratory support or general lung resilience for those with chronic mild respiratory sensitivity.
